‘Super Cool’ Things at St. Pete Sunday Market
As Father’s Day approaches, there’s a unique market experience where you might just find that perfect gift and more: the St. Pete Sunday Market in the Warehouse Arts District.
The event is the brainchild of Kody Roussert and Soudabah Moayedi, founders of St. Pete is Super Cool, which showcases the best things around town.
“Every local in St. Pete has noticed the growth that has happened over the past few years in our city,” explains Soudabah. “The world is finally realizing how great St. Pete is. From the amazing weather, local art, amazing beaches, and our sense of community, what isn’t to love about our city?”
Both she and Kody grew up in families that owned small businesses. The pair also work as vendors but noted that many markets took place on the same day of the week or had high fees. They wanted to make a market that was affordable for all small businesses, and to offer more promotional work for those starting out in this area.
“We felt like Sunday was the odd day where the community wanted something to do. We started hosting our market every third Sunday at Cage Brewing then outgrew the space and moved to the ArtsXchange.”
The pair work to deliver events where attendees can find art, local food, vintage clothing, homemade wooden furniture, and more. Over 100 vendors participate each month and are accompanied by live music from local bands and DJs.
“We are welcoming to all local creators, small business owners, and artists in the area. You can find some of your favorite local artists like Hummingbird Eva, who does five-minute portraits, food trucks like Loco Mofongo, Grounded Coffee House, and Pacific Island Grillz. We even have two young teenage brothers who vend with us every weekend: One serves lemonade and sweet treats, while his brother sells homemade dog treats.”
As the city’s arts and small business sectors gain momentum, so does the market. It’s quickly becoming a weekend favorite.
“It’s a great environment to bring the whole family, even the fur babies! Since we have added vendors to the Pinellas Trail you have even more ways to enjoy the market. You can walk, run, or even bike with friends on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. Plus, there is plenty of free parking available.”
The market just celebrated its one-year anniversary in April, with plans to continue expanding.
“I would love to work with more charity organizations in St. Pete and help them bring awareness to their causes,” says Soudabah.
Later in the year, the duo also hope to bring seasonal fun like a pumpkin patch and a visit from Santa.
“For anyone who hasn’t shopped at the St. Pete Sunday Market, I say to just come by and enjoy the day. We think having vendors along it during market days and activating it as more of a destination is something really exciting. St. Pete is growing and evolving, and we are activating known spaces into something new for the younger generation to enjoy.”
